associate pastors, and the pastoral ministers.
2.
The Pastoral Council is an envisioning body.
3.
The Pastoral Council does not manage the day-to-day activities of
the parish, but engages in ongoing long range pastoral planning.
4.
The Pastoral Council members serve as a channel of consultation
for the pastor by engaging in ongoing dialogue concerning the needs,
feelings, hopes, and reactions of the parishioners.
5.
Pastoral planning begins with and is sustained by a process of
discernment and assessment. The pastor and the Pastoral Council members,
through prayer, study, and listening, begin to identify and prioritize the
ways in which the parish is being called to live out its specific mission.
6.
The Pastoral Council’s responsibility for parish planning is to
provide the pastor with information and advice. Council members should seek
to know the people of the parish in order to fulfill this responsibility
conscientiously.
