COME, HOLY SPIRIT

A Nine Day Prayer in Preparation/or Pentecost

DAY 1

Come, Holy Spirit, come into my life; fill me with the fire

of your love

Open my ears to hear you speak in the things that happen

and in the people I meet.

Open my eyes to see the needs of the people around me.

Open my lips to tell others the good news of Jesus.

Open my mind to discover new truth about you and the

world.

Open my heart to love you more and to love others as you

love them.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the heart of your faithful servant

and enkindle in me the fire of your love.

Come, renew the face of the earth.   Amen

DAY  2

Loving God, I pray for the gift of Wisdom. Grant me

reflection and insight to see Your will in all that you

call me to do and to be. May I see clearly God's

presence in my life and speak honestly of my belief in

the Lord Jesus.

Come, Holy Spirit, with Your gift of Wisdom. Come into

my heart.

DAY 3

Loving God, I pray for the gift of Understanding. Help

me to be gentle and forgiving. May I be open to the

working of God in myself and in others. Help me to

understand how to better live my faith every day.

Come, Holy Spirit, with Your gift of Understanding.

DAY 4

Loving God, I pray for the gift of Right Judgment. May

I listen, and offer hope, direction, and comfort to

those in need. May I always seek out and be open to

the advice of others. As I grow in being a risk taker

and discemer of the truth, gift me with a deep sense of

justice.

Come, Holy Spirit, with Your gift. of Right Judgment.

DAY 5

Loving God, I pray for the gift of Courage. May I say

"Yes" to God's challenge to be different and prophetic

in our world. I pray to be rooted in Your word and

courageously face each new day with the

determination to act in all things with love.

Come, Holy Spirit, with Your gift of Courage. Come into

DAY 6

Loving God, I pray for the gift of Knowledge. May I

accept divine truth which frees me to seek, to learn,

and to be open to discovery. Grant that I may better

know myself and the deep love You have for me.

Come, Holy Spirit, with Your gift of Knowledge. Come

DAY 7

Loving God, I pray for the gift of Reverence. May I

discover the gift of prayer, and experience God's

nearness and love. May I accept as holy the beauty

and dignity of each human person and all of God's

creation and may I treat all with respect and

reverence.

Come, Holy Spirit, with Your gift of Reverence. Come

into my heart.

DAY 8

Loving God, I pray for the gifts of Wonder and Awe. May

I always recognize the majesty of God and the need

for God in my life. Grant me the grace to experience

Your miracles in my daily life.

Come, Holy Spirit, with Your gift of Wonder and Awe.

Come into my heart.

DAY 9

All powerful God, Father of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, by

water and the Holy Spirit you freed me from sin and

gave me new life. Send your Holy Spirit upon me to

be my helper and guide. Grant me the spirit of

wisdom and understanding, the spirit of right

judgment and courage, the spirit of knowledge and

reverence. Fill me with the spirit of wonder and awe

in your presence. On this Pentecost Sunday, fill me

with zeal to proclaim the Gospel with joy.
